Depression Pills?
Ok so you’re all depressed and stay in bed all day. You have no will to do anything and you’re sad all the time. They have pills that fix this supposedly. My question is. Do these things really work and do they make you a chipper happy person just like that? Does anyone have any success stories?? I’m soo wondering if these little pills can make someone a happy go lucky person.
I would not put my money on being a happy go lucky person. Unless you have some moderate to mild depression and you had been happy go lucky for awhile before. THEY are worth it to try upon a doctors prescription to help you get out of bed. I have been in a position where I could not get out of bed no matter how much I wanted to because of depression. After a few weeks the medicine helped reduce those instances. That was a relief. Happy go lucky, nah, I am too analytical from too much reading and writing. Good luck hon. Let me know if you need more details.

depression is generally caused by an imbalance of hormones/chemicals such as serotonin in the brain. The pills that you take help regulate the production of the these chemicals. So if the person on the meds takes them as directed they should work. ALthough some times it takes a few different prescriptions before they find the one that works for them.

No, anti-depressants don’t work like that. They can help lift the fog of depression, help you become more energetic, able to manage the millions of life details that become overwhelming when you are depressed, but they do not "make you a chipper happy person just like that". They can enable you to work through underlying psychological/grief issues responsible for depression brought on by those issues, and they are pretty much a necessity if your depression is genuinely due to underlying genetic/bio-chemical issues unrelated to your thoughts, grief, etc. No (good) doctor would seriously tell you that a pill will "fix" all of your depression, but he or she should tell you that they can greatly allieviate a lot of the symptoms that you just cannot "think" yourself out of. Honey, if you could think yourself out of depression, you would have already done so (if we are actually talking about you).

Have been on anti-depressants for 12 years; tried diet, exercise, etc etc. Some of us just need these pills the way that a diabetic just needs insulin.

Anti-depressants can be a big help in giving you back a more positive outlook in life. However, they do not make you happy, go-lucky. Just calmer and easier to handle what life throws at you with a clear head and no over-reaction. You get a better perspective in life. In other words - you become you again when you felt good about yourself. Depression clouds your self-image and puts a damper on life. Makes you feel like life isn’t worth it. The meds help you gain quality to your life again. And help you cope. Get through your day.
Not everyone has a success story to tell about anti-depressants. However, don’t hesitate to explore their possibility in your life. Discuss this option with your doctor.
As for me, I’m on meds for depression. Am I happy? Not always. However, when I’m sad I no longer feel like it’s the end of the world. It helps me cope with life. The dose goes up and down according to what is happening all around me, that directly affects me. Believe me, I’m a much easier person to be around!

Depression can be treated with medication but not if you are a teenager or young adult. Antidepressants can cause suicidal thoughts and suicide in young people. Talking to a therapist or ever a clergyman will help a lot.
Church, reading the Bible and Prayer are also great. Talk to God one on one he will lift your burdens and bring joy into your life again. Pray for your peace of mind and happiness, he will answer your prayers and lift you up.
This has worked for me and many other people I know. Believe in the power of Prayer, it works.
May the Lord Bless and keep you.
