do you go to the gynecologist to get anti depression pills?

ok so my mom is making me go to the gyno and I just to make sure that you actually could get them there.

While a gyn is a doctor, few are experienced with prescribing antidepressants, and most will refer you to a gp or suggest you see a psychiatrist (a psychologist can not prescribe meds). My wife’s gyn will prescribe them, but only for patients he knows well, and usually only a mild type of drug. Anything else, and you get a referal.

Why would your mom think you can get antidepressants at the gyn?

Uh no you don’t. You get them at a regular doctor or a psychiatrist.

well… i don’t think so but your doctor most likely could recommend something for you. the pill might also help you with depression. but that’s not what it’s made for. just ask your doctor what you should do.

i could be wrong, but i dont think you can get them there. you usually have to see your pysician. i had a baby and had post pardom and i had to see my dr before i could get anything for it. you have to be diagnosed depressed and a gyno has nothing to do with that.
