my friend in denial, in depression.?
I have a best friend and she is in depression. I’ve had depression before, and I asked her about her symptoms, and they matched mine exactly. She also took a self diagnosis quiz, and it says she was in depression also. I am almost 100% sure she is, but she won’t believe me. She says she’ll just ignore it, doesn’t need help, doesn’t have time for treatment. I told her i got through it without treatment(which is true) and she could too. I also assured her i would be here for her, and if she needs to talk about anything, i’ll try to help. She tells me that she doesn’t need help, will ignore it/forget about it and "not have it anymore."
Please help me, I really don’t know what to do. Thanks alot, it’ll mean much to me.
Just try to keep her doing the normal everyday things and don’t let her withdraw too much. If she withdraws then that will tend to make her depression worse since she will tend to think about her mood more. Maybe you could get started with exercise since that should help with the depression. What really helps though is just having someone to talk to and not feeling like you are alone. You are a good friend and she knows that. That is why she was so honest with you. So, for now just be there for her and when she is ready to seek help I’m sure she will let you know.

It’s important for people to try to deal with their problems on their own first, then seek help from peers or parents and then finally if there’s still a problem, seek professional help. Give her a few weeks or months. Hopefully by then she’ll have it sorted out. Then maybe consider medication or alternative ways of help.

you can’t help her if she doesn’t want it…i ‘ve been depressed to and i am always like that…wanna cope it alone but i also need someone to support me…i just can’t admit it…so be next to her..be there…always!also try not to talk to her only about the depression…be with her…go shopping or watch a movie together…just be there!! she’s probably on the right track if she says she will forget about it and not having it anymore……i believe the mind is soo powerful, that if you acknowledge you are depressed, it will perpetuate depression…….just tell her to believe she is not crazy or depressed and she is normal.

If it’s due to a sad memory, give her Ignatia 200 twice a day till recovery.
If due to an unknown reason, give her Nat Mur 30 at the time of attack of
depression.U’ll witness the effect within 10 minutes.
