The Necessity - Hypnotic
(The quality may not be great.. it was a large file that I had to shrink)
2nd video xD
So it’s me Hypnotic back again, with another rap. It was for a contest which I placed 1st in Peel, and 2nd in Ontario with. The topic of the contest was to talk about, what you view as a necessity. Things like shelter, water, and food were given as examples. However, I suggested - through a rap - that knowledge was as important as these examples.
D. Wilson helped me with the beat
Audrey Kyere is the singer
(Turn up the bass to hear some awesome audio)
Here are the lyrics:
(Intro)
Ayo, this one is for you to think about. Open your minds - its a necessity. The more knowledge you have, the less you become trapped in your limited intellect.
(Verse 1)
Yo check it,
to be knowledgeable is something thats necessary,
n if you think its scary to live out in the prairie
then you’re wrong, youre on the contrary.
Its more scary if you have no knowledge cuz its like no blood in your veins,
ya see, knowledge is that blood, pumping through our brains.
You know Lil Wayne… but do you remember De Champlain? (Samuel De Champlain)
No doubt you feel good when you can answer any questions,
and if youre far from that, attend more class sessions -
go to college n get a profession; a knowledge digestion,
learn about the Great Depression so youll have the confession
that your expression is happy cuz knowledge youre possessing.
They say experience is everything, and it is…
But before u can get there comes: being able to pass a quiz,
I have no high demands, and I aint a gangster speaking with my hands,
I never rap for fame, I rap so you understand… its my necessity.
(Chorus)
What unfits a child to be a slave? (The Necessity)
Something necessary from cradle to the grave? (The Necessity)
Makes you feel different; changing the way you behave? (The Necessity)
You have it n people will praise or rave? (Knowledge… the Necessity)
(Verse 2)
Theres this man, name is Frederick Douglass; survived the black slavery with success,
and I guess, he was blessed cuz when the stress
was over he said this to the press: Yes, yes, yes, yes
knowledge unfits a child to be a slave.
That man made a mark on history cuz what he said was brave,
and so today, we take note to his words.
If you have a lot of knowledge, you aint a nerd!
In fact its necessary to have more knowledge in our community,
it gets you places so you can take advantage of this (Canada’s) land of opportunity.
The whole community will be a part of this unity,
and well have an active immunity towards stupidity.
But if we are not united in knowledge, then our children will be part of the slavery.
Knowledge in Canada is soo free given,
open a textbook n guess what? Its already written.
(Chorus)
(Verse 3)
But see in places like India or Africa,
Vattos in Mexico, or in Morocco,
my heart cries out for the homeless children,
children forced into labor, a crime that cannot be forgiven.
But see, the children dont know any better; they aint blessed with opportunities to knowledge,
they dont know about rights; the most they know are rumors about college.
Knowledge doesn’t only unfit, it unlocks too,
picture a slave child shackled, and it’s true
his subdue knowledge has its own limits,
he’s chained on his ankles n both his wrists.
There’s a lock on the shackles, n it can opened,
all he needs is the key that can mend;
the key that won’t pretend but
extend its intellect and befriend.
The key that will help him transcend the world beyond the cell,
no longer will the problems dwell in the rusted metal on his wrists,
because a new life somewhere out there exists.
All he needs is the key that will fit perfectly in the lock.
Guess wat the key is? The Necessity; why ain’t I shocked?
(Chorus)
(Verse 4)
Picture a slave child throwing down the metal,
around his skin is irritated as if by stinging nettle,
but the joy is exceeding cuz now he can settle.
Picture a slave child, free at last,
him walking out the cell with The Necessity, indeed he surpassed
what others could not, his life he just got
prevents him from being sold or bought.
But then picture this, a child unable to be free,
because no one would give him the key; The Necessity.
Last but not least, Im going to say something and I may sound like I have a lot of persistence,
Knowledge has always been in abundance,
Its only due to the lack of its familiarity that we question its existence.
Some people arent given the Key to unlock n become a liberator or even a freedom writer,
thats why if you want to drop out of school you better say never.
Cuz the necessity of knowledge influences us having an effective affect that makes knowledge last forever.
(Chorus) x 2
