What multivitamin is formulated to be taken while on antidepressants?

I recently saw a multivitamin (mostly B vitamins I believe) in the grocery store that said it was specially formulated to be taken while you’re currently taking antidepressants such as Zoloft, Lexapro, etc. It didn’t list Wellbutrin XL, but that’s the antidepressant I’m on.
Anyway, my question is where can I find this type of vitamin in a store or online? I saw it in a grocery store and now I want to research it but I don’t remember the name. When I tried googling or looking on vitamin websites they don’t list any that are specific to taking with antidepressants - they just list ones that are natural antidepressants.
Does anyone know of a brand that I can research or try that has this formula? I know I can take B vitamins, but I’d like to find something like this that is packaged and ready to go with one multivitamin pill that will give me the supplement I need while on this medicine.
Thanks!

I suffer from major depression. I have taken many different medications, including Wellbutrin, as well as combinations of medicine. (My case is kind of complicated.) I put a lot of emphasis on exercise, which is my most effective antidepressant. I also follow a nutritious diet. I also take at least one multivitamin a day. There have been periods in my life when I took lots of nutritional supplements. However, that became too expensive and didn’t seem to help my depression.

If you do want to take a multivitamin, I recommend going to a health food store to get high-quality brands like Solgar or TwinLabs. Don’t try to save a couple of bucks by getting cheaper vitamins in a drug store.

Like other answerers, I don’t have much confidence in a multivitamin that claims to be formulated for people on antidepressants. That really sounds like a marketing scheme to make more money.

If you are satisfied with your antidepressant, good for you. If you want to try something more natural, here are some ideas to consider.

5-HTP and tryptophan might have some antidepressant qualities. The same can be said for folic acid and the B vitamins in general. You should probably avoid St. John’s wort since it might interfere with your pills.

There is a fair amount of research suggesting that Omega-3 oils can be benefical for depression. There are foods like salmon that contain a lot of Omega-3. You can google for "omega 3 foods" in you are interested. I am taking Lovaza, which is a prescription version of Omega-3. My psychiatrist wrote out the prescription.

Amino acids that may help depression include phenylalanine, tyrosine, GABA and theanine.

If you want to try these "antidepressant supplements" you should probably mention it to your doctor, to make sure there is no conflict with taking these supplements while on Wellbutrin. Best wishes.

It is safe to take just about any regualr over the counter multi-vitamin as long as it is not an "herbal" multi-vitamin. Vitamins do not counteract with antidepressants. They market theat way so you think you can only take certain ones while you are medications.

There’s no need to alter the formulation of a vitamin pill to go with an antidepressant - they don’t significantly alter absorption of vitamins in any significant quantity. What you’re looking at is primarily advertising. I’d compare it to… say a particular brand of shoe being advertised as designed ’specially’ for use in a particular model of car.

Any regular old multivitamin will work. Antidepressants create no specific nutritional requirements.

Wellbutrin XL or other antidepressants like the SSRI class that you mentioned don’t require any special formulations, as Az R is saying above, it is just a grab for cash.
